Director Treatment 

In addition, I helped lead the creative direction to secure a grant specifically for testimonial content. I developed a Director’s Treatment that gave the brand a clear, strategic point of view, helping articulate who they are, the emotional weight of their mission, and the vision they had for using the funds to elevate patient stories with authenticity and care.

Problem 

The Dear Jack Foundation, led by musician and cancer survivor Andrew McMahon, received a Google grant for YouTube media spend but had no video content or launch strategy in place.

Approach

Working closely with the DJF team, we built a creative strategy aligned with McMahon’s tour schedule. Since filming new patient stories wasn’t feasible, we used real patient photos paired with a scripted voiceover and new footage of McMahon to craft an authentic, emotional narrative that showed why the foundation’s work matters. The film closed with a direct, personal call to action from McMahon himself.

Result

The video premiered at DJF’s annual benefit and became a cornerstone of their media efforts amplifying awareness, driving donations, and putting the grant to work in a way that stayed true to the heart of the mission.
